  6.  What is Acquirex for?

  9.  Acquirex has been designed to make easy use of PC plug-in cards
  10.  that convert real world analogue signals into digital data.
  11.  
  12.  These cards are now available at low cost, from around £50 upwards.
  13.  They can convert the voltages coming from sensors that measure 
  14.  temperature, humidity, pressure, strain, acceleration etc. into
  15.  digital form that can collected and displayed on a personal computer. 
  16.  Some cards can also output either on/off digital or analogue signals
  17.  to control relays, switches, motors etc.
  18.  
  19.  Acquirex was created because of the lack of suitable software to 
  20.  drive them. Getting useful data into a computer had previously 
  21.  meant programming for every aspect of the plug-in cards functions.
  22.  
  23.  With Acquirex you can set how often data is acquired, how it's 
  24.  converted and how you want to see it on the computer screen. There's
  25.  space to add notes to your datalog, you can print them out or you can
  26.  transmit the data to another computer via the serial port. You can
  27.  also control analogue and digital outputs, if you're card is capable 
  28.  of doing so. Some of these control functions can be linked to the  
  29.  analogue data that's coming in to create sophisticated control 
  30.  systems.

  32.  Acquirex can be run as a TSR - Terminal and Stay Resident program,
  33.  with ususal proviso's about memory requirements.

  63.  More cards are being added all the time, but if your card is not 
  64.  mentioned, we can add it for you when you register or you can try 
  65.  programming for it yourself within Acquirex.

  67.  Please NOTE that if you try installing some A/D cards when they 
  68.  are not plugged into your system, and then running Acquirex, your
  69.  system may hang - this is because you're waiting for a non-existant 
  70.  card to convert data that isn't there!

  73.  How is Acquirex conigured?

  76.  The shareware version of Acquirex comes with NO Restrictions except 
  77.  that the number of scans is limited to 100. Everything else is 
  78.  exactly as the Registered version.

  80.  Acquirex is configured as if monitoring a solar house - each of 16
  81.  channels refers to solar radiation, electricity consumption etc. 
  82.  You can alter the names of the channels to your own and save them
  83.  in a coniguration file.
